For scopes under 5Kg you can usually mount with without counterweight.
For scopes from 5-8Kg choose 1 counterweight.
For scopes from 9Kg to 14Kg choose 2 counterweights.
For scopes from 15Kg to 20Kg choose 3 counterweights.

These figures are approximate and equate to counterweights of 1/2 to 2/3 the weight of the OTA.
